There are three main ingredients mold needs to colonize, or grow - moisture, warm temperatures, and food. Moisture - Mold can utilize even the smallest increase in moisture to grow and multiply to form colonies. The source of moisture can be water from outside your home, small leaks under a kitchen and bathroom sink, or even just an increase of humidity from running a long, hot shower. Moisture can come from many different sources. This is why we have moisture sensing equipment and tools that help us identify potential sources of water. Warm temperatures - Ideal temperatures for mold to grow is between 32 and 120 degrees Fahrenheit. This means that most indoor air environments are perfect temperatures for mold to grow.
